Las Vegas Fishing …

– A great adventure just beyond the city!

Las Vegas Fishing, fishing las vegas, big fish, las vegas sports

Las Vegas fishing is a great alternative to the casinos, theme parks and nightlife of the neon city. It is also a great adventure to fill free time away from a convention.

Just a few minutes from the neon lights of Las Vegas, fishing in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area can be a relaxing adventure for the novice, the seasoned angler, the fly fisher, or the entire family or group.

On any given day you can see wild burros, desert bighorn sheep, several species of water fowl and even bald eagles. The sight seeing and scenery is tremendous in the surrounding conservation and recreation area.

Lake Mead happens to be one of most prolific stripped bass lakes in the country. The annual take of stripers is estimated to be close to one million fish. The liberal 20 fish limit per person, can be a reality on any given day as these fish are aggressive almost all year. In addition to the stripped bass, the lake hosts a wide variety of sport fish including largemouth bass, small mouth bass, catfish, tilapia, crappie, bluegill, and red ear sunfish.

Lake Mead National Recreation Area is truly unique environment for fishing. Lakes Mead and Mojave, with 181,000 surface acres and nearly 1000 miles of shoreline, combine to make it the premier inland water recreation area in the west.

Non-residents of Nevada can obtain a Short-term Fishing Permit that is valid until midnight on the day specified.

For Adults (18+) or teens (16 & 17) with parental signatures a short-term permit is just $18 and for youth (12 to 15) the fee is half of that ($9) for the day. Permits are available only from licensed agents, so check with the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) for a list of licensed agents in the Clark County area.
